Tummy Tuck – Precautions During Recovery

February 25, 2010

Tummy tuck Beverly HillsTummy tuck Beverly Hills surgery is the best option for achieving a tighter, slimmer stomach and the positive outcomes of this procedure are greatly influenced by the following precautions. This procedure removes extra hanging skin, and patches up loose or stretched muscles, thereby, giving a better shape to the abdominal wall, its tone and structure. Tummy tuck Los Angeles also takes care of the skin that has stretch marks, which is generally on the lower abdomen.

Most patients complain of lot of discomfort and pain right after the operation. Others experience swelling, bruising, numbness, and overall tiredness due to the effect of medicines for the next few days.

Though in recent years many people have opted for it but it is still a very complex procedure. Not following surgeon’s advice religiously can hamper the recovery and may cause further discomfort to the patient.
  • Surgeons usually suggest bending the legs at hips to lessen the strain on the muscles supporting abdominal wall for the first 4 days.

  • On the fifth day of the week within the operation, the drainage tubes, that are put in during surgery to avoid fluids from accumulating within the body are removed. In the Los Angeles tummy tuck a support garment is given to the patient which is required to be worn for the next few days.

  • The garment gives firm support to the newly shaped abdomen and helps to control the redness and swelling. Wearing the garment till the doctor advices is very important.

  • Bathing is restricted for at least three to four days after the procedure, otherwise there are chances of the wound to turn into an infection.

  • Leading Plastic surgeon Beverly Hills also suggests taking pain killers and advised medication regularly to avoid any complications later.

Any patient can expect healthy outcomes of a tummy tuck operation once these precautions are taken care of.

Gynecomastia Treatment in Beverly Hills- New, Minimal Invasive Technique of Male Breast Removal Reduction

January 22, 2010

Treatment of Gynecomastia in Beverly Hills is a common part of many plastic surgeons’ practices. Removal of overgrown male breast tissue by plastic surgeons in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills varies in technique and effectiveness.

The most prevalent technique for Gynecomastia treatment in Beverly Hills has been the direct excision of male breast tissue through an incision at the periphery of the areola. This scar is often noticeable when a young man takes off his shirt, which become a source of embarrassment is the gym.

Gynecomastia Treatment- Male Breast ReductionDr. Younai has devised a new technique for the treatment of Gynecomastia in Beverly Hills. In this new method, most of the fatty breast tissue is first liposuctioned via small puncture wounds in the arm pit and the outer chest. This removes about 90% of the breast volume. The remainder of the male breast tissue, which is fibrous, is then removed through a small incision in the areola. With special minimal invasive tools the remaining breast gland is cut into smaller pieces that can be removed through this very small incision. This incision is closed with just two stitches and the patient is sent home in a compression chest garment.
Gynecomastia Treatment- Male Breast Reduction
The superficial liposuction technique used in this novel Gynecomastia treatment causes the loose breast skin to shrink by more than 90-95%. In this fashion, there is often no need to remove excess skin and therefore no visible chest scars. In only about 5-10% of patients, Dr. Younai finds the need to remove excess skin at a later time, via a small peri-areolar incision. This innovative method of Gynecomastia treatment eliminates the noticeable chest scars that are the tale-tell sign of male breast tissue removal.

Dr. Younai is a Board certified plastic surgeon who receives patients at the California Center for Plastic Surgery from the Northern as well as the Southern California region. Some of these cities are Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Burbank, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Pasadena, Glendale, Valencia, Palmdale, Fresno, Bakersfield, and Oxnard.

Plastic Surgeon Beverly Hills

San Francisco Tummy TuckGrowth and development of technology have provided us a lot of options to do things faster and easier. As a result, people now want things to be done at a rapid pace in comparison to what they used to think earlier. To cater to this demand, medical science has invented so many techniques for faster results and recovery. Plastic surgery is one such field that has come a long way since its advent in 2000 BC.

Instead of going to fitness clubs, following a diet regime or exercising, people now want fast relief from the bulging bodies, sagging skin, and perfect looks. Some ever evolving and most sought after techniques of plastic surgery include Abdominoplasty and Breast Augmentation. Abdominoplasty or Tummy Tuck is opted by both the sexes, male and female of any age. On the other hand, Breast Augmentation is very common amongst women though there is some proportion of male populace who also opt for breast augmentation.

Abdominoplasty is also very commonly known as Tummy Tuck. This surgical technique helps in removing excess fat from the abdominal wall and various other areas. It helps in tightening the tissues by providing a firm and tight stomach. This surgery is useful for old people with sagging skin due to aging, women after pregnancy, people with hanging skin after major weight loss, and people with too much of fat around their lower and middle abdominal areas.

Breast Augmentation or breast implants is helpful in changing the overall shape and size of the woman’s breasts. In this procedure, various kinds of implants are inserted to give a new look to the breasts. Before undergoing this procedure, surgeons prefer to show patients the new look that they are going to achieve after the surgery. Some women opt for the normal looks but some women rather want heads to turn towards them and they prefer heavy breasts instead of regular looks.

Plastic surgery techniques are always optional for people. A thorough understanding of the procedure and a qualified surgeon should be opted to make a wise and confident decision. In San Francisco, tummy tuck is performed by world’s renowned surgeons. For breast augmentation, San Francisco has a lot of options available. For abdominoplasty or tummy tuck, San Francisco offers state-of-the-art technology and San Francisco breast implants are the performed by world renowned surgeons.

Do Breast Implants Keep Women From Breastfeeding?

September 5, 2009

Breast Augmentation San FranciscoAmong questions regarding breast augmentation San Francisco patients frequently ask if breast implants would prevent them from one of the joys of motherhood: breastfeeding. According to ABC News reports they are not alone in their skepticism about having implants and breast feeding.

Many Women Learn That Their San Francisco Breast Implants Would Not Necessarily Thwart Their Hopes Of Nursing

Where the implant is inserted has everything to do with the likelihood the woman will be able to breastfeed in the future, according to plastic surgery specialists.

Avoiding a nipple incision and instead putting the implants under the breast crease – a procedure called an inframammary incision – or putting the implants under the muscle of the chest wall, the majority of patients do not have a problem breast feeding. Also, the less pressure that is put on a woman’s mammary glands by an implant, the better the chances to produce milk. Putting pressure on any gland in the body puts you at risk of malfunctioning and compromising lactation. When going over breast lift before and after pictures with a qualified plastic surgeon, patients are recommended to discuss implant placement as well.

Another common misperception women have about implants and breastfeeding is the potential for the implant to leak and potentially contaminate the breast milk.

Experts say these worries have been set aside in the past decade, since the inner-workings of implants have been reformulated and tested. Of the two available implants on the market – saline and silicone – neither presents a risk of leaking, they said. Implants are now made out of memory gel or cohesive gel that don’t leak and instead stick together.

While people are concerned that their kids will be drinking silicone (silicone implants, because they appear to be more natural, make up 80 percent of his surgeries), there are no worries whatsoever about leaking free silicone and having the child exposed. For more information about breast feeding concerns after as well as Los Angeles tummy tuck procedures, contact your local plastic surgery experts to learn more.

proper selection of breast implant

August 26, 2009

Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon

After finding a qualified breast augmentation surgeon, carefully going over breast lift before and after pictures with your plastic surgeon to find the proper breast implant size is extremely important for minimizing complications and optimizing patient satisfaction. Breast augmentation specialists consider the base diameter of the chest, along with tissue laxity and the amount of breast tissue a patient is starting with, as the most important factors in choosing implant size. Implants come in three types of profiles: moderate, moderate plus or midrange depending upon the implant manufacturer, or high profile. Depending on the given width or base diameter of small, medium, or large breast implants, the implant may project lower or higher on the chest. Implants that are too big for a woman’s individual chest dimensions lead to a higher likelihood of irreparable tissue stretch, bottoming out, and complications that may lead to reoperation. Decreasing reoperation rates with breast augmentation is of national interest for many plastic surgeons.

What’s New. In Los Angeles tummy tucks and breast augmentation remain as top procedures sought out by patients. Evaluation of the highly-cohesive, form-stable fourth generation implants is well underway by the FDA in the United States, but these implants have been widely used since the mid-1990s in many other countries and are very popular in Europe. These teardrop-shaped (often called anatomic or “gummy bear”) implants are textured and contain a highly cross-linked form of silicone gel to minimize the possibility of silicone migration, as well as upper pole collapse and folds in the implant shell. Studies of these devices have shown significant promise in clinical trials with low rates of capsular contracture and rupture, and high rates of patient satisfaction. There are a matrix of different implants to chose from in these lines, with varying width, height, and projection for different body and breast types.

Though shaped cohesive gel implant represents a new option in the United States for women considering breast surgery for reconstruction and augmentation, the potential drawbacks are that they do feel a little firmer than the smooth round responsive gels, and the possibility exists that they could shift or turn in the pocket and not look or feel right if that were to happen (called malrotation). For this reason, very precise breast pocket dissection is needed for this type of implant. These implants do cost significantly more than saline, and likely will cost several hundred dollars more per pair than responsive silicone gel implants if and when they are approved by the FDA. For more information regarding breast implants and body contouring such liposuction and tummy tuck Los Angeles patients are encouraged to contact their local professional plastic surgeons to learn more.

Cosmetic Surgery in Beverly Hills

Plastic Surgery Beverly Hills

Beverly Hills is a fast paced city in the western part of Los Angeles County, California is known worldwide as the Mecca of cosmetic surgery. There is absolutely no other place on Earth that can match the options made available by this city.

The TV show 90210 that ran successfully on Fox during the 1990s popularized Plastic Surgery Beverly Hills as a way to improve looks. It shattered all the myths that prevailed in the general public and portrayed Beverly Hill cosmetic surgeons as the best and most skilled surgeons. There are not many places in the world that can match the quality of Breast Implants Los Angeles, or Breast Augmentation Beverly Hills. Doctors and experienced surgeons have made millions of patients feel confident about flaunting their body in public. Since cosmetic surgery is witnessing a huge upward trend, many skilled surgeons are migrating from other states and countries to Beverly Hills. This has made plastic surgery an extremely competitive field for medical clinics which sometimes have to offer discounts to patients in order to retain them.

This competition in Plastic Surgery California has proved beneficial for commoners who base their decision on the quality assurance feeling that each clinic provides. Most of these clinics boost of the riskless procedures that they perform and even offer money back guarantee if something goes wrong after the treatment.

Many surgeons use laser techniques to complete the procedure without any pain and cut. Patients can walk out immediately after the non invasive surgery and can return to their normal routine. However, there are some treatments like breast augmentation that require a woman to be admitted for 24-48 hours after the treatment. It is done to avoid any post operative infection. Being in a nursing home after operation insures that the vital stats of the patient are monitored at every step and proper medication can be given i the time of emergency.

Plastic Surgery Industry Bouncing Back

Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon

Plastic Surgery Industry Bouncing Back

According to The Los Angeles Times in a recent article, the $12 billion to $20 billion cosmetic-surgery industry had been tracking with the economy, taking a major hit last fall. But the industry started making a comeback in the spring, spurred by doctors’ reduced rates and a sense the economy’s death spiral may be slowing. And although they are not the only generation that has embraced cosmetic procedures such as tummy tuck Los Angeles baby boomers — who make up that infamous demographic bulge in the population — are helping encourage the comback. Whether we’re referring to popular non-invasive procedures such as Botox or traditional surgical treatments like liposuction Los Angeles plastic surgeons agree that the economy largely moves with the baby boomers and the fact is, the boomers are aging, and aging is great for the cosmetic surgery industry. Cosmetic surgery covers scores of procedures, and demand for them is expected to grow 8.4 percent annually through 2012, with less invasive procedures such as Botox growing the most quickly, according to a September 2008 study.

Los Angeles Liposuction Procedures On The Definite Rise

Although many of us are in the middle of layoffs, salary freezes, and job searches, following a budget-conscious lifestyle doesn’t mean forgoing ways to improve our situation and self-image through plastic surgery technology. Many cosmetic surgeons have been offering discounts and specials to encourage patients to explore their options. According to a top liposuction surgeon Los Angeles patients have tended to be more resistant to spending money than before, and though many practices have seen business slow down, with specials and offers,nd since, the whole reason cosmetic surgery works is because people are willing to spend money to change something in their body that changes the way that they feel about themselves.

For this reason, plastic surgery specialists across the country are confident that cosmetic surgery will pick up sooner than the rest of the economy. There were 12.1 million cosmetic procedures performed in 2008, according to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons which reflects a 9 percent decline in surgical procedures but a 5 percent increase in minimally invasive procedures. Brands Of Breast Implants Varies Widely In Breast Augmentation San Francisco Plastic Surgeons Say

July 28, 2009

San Francisco Breast Implants

Brands Of Breast Implants Varies Widely In Breast Augmentation San Francisco Plastic Surgeons Say On a recent tour of Mentor Breast Implant manufacturing plant I learned that not all brands of breast implants are the same. At this breast implant industrialized facility they make both saline and silicone breast implants for breast augmentation as well as breast reconstruction.

As touring the plant with other plastic surgeons from Los Angeles, San Francisco, and San Diego we were shown the typical way that most breast implant companies make breast implants. In fact, they even had me make one of my own! In this process, the breast mold which is stuck onto a stick is dipped into liquid silicone and then brought out and twisted in order for the excess silicone to drip off the surface of the mold. It was just like making candy apple! Hands On: Making San Francisco Breast Implants Although this is the common way that US breast implant companies such as Mentor and Allergan (Inamed, McGhan) make their breast implant, the Mentor factory in Texas has now introduced an innovative way of making breast implants. Instead of having the breast molds dipped into silicone, a robotics arm sprays silicone evenly over the entire surface of the breast mold.

This gives the implant a more even and consistent thicknesses which can help reduce the rate of implant deflation. Silicone and saline implant shells are now both made in this way by Mentor (Johnson & Johnson) Corp., which is the only manufacturer who makes all its breast implants exclusively in the United States. Unlike a plastic surgery procedure where the patient’s body is contoured and formed as in a tummy tuck Los Angeles breast augmentation differs in that material is being inserted inside the body – it is very important to consider the quality and kind of implant when getting breast augmentation or reconstruction. Mentor has also introduced more advanced ways of making “Textured” breast implants. Textured breast implants have a rough surface which reduces the rate of capsular contracture, or the hardening of breast implants.

Unlike other manufactures, Mentor Breast Implant Corp. adds a layer of textured silicone sheet to the existing smooth breast implant in order to convert it to a textured breast implant. Other manufactures generally use an imprinting technique which can thin-out the breast implant in certain spots, therefore raising the risk of breast implant deflation or rupture. As a Beverly Hills plastic surgeon that specializes in breast augmentation, augmentopexy, and revision breast implant surgery, my goal is to offer my patients the best breast implants that are FDA approved and available in the US. My tour of the Mentor breast implant manufacturing plant in Texas definitely exposed me to the fact that not all brands of breast implants are of the same quality.

Making The Right Choice About Breast Augmentation In Beverly Hills

July 17, 2009

San Francisco Plastic Surgeon

The decision to undergo breast augmentation revision or breast implant exchange is a complex one. There are many important factors to be considered depending on your breast size, shape, and your overall figure. Breast augmentation with saline or silicone breast implants San Francisco plastic surgeons say, is one of the most popular plastic surgery procedures in Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, and San Francisco.

Many Beverly Hills women who have either had breast implants or are contemplating breast augmentation wonder if they need to have their breast implants replaced or exchanged in the future. Saline or silicone breast implants are not lifetime devices. There may be specific reasons why Los Angeles women wish to, or even need to have their breast implants replaced.

Therefore, there are many important issues to discus with your San Francisco plastic surgeon before proceeding with breast augmentation. Although breast implants don’t last forever, they don’t have to be automatically replaced every so many years. Saline and Silicone breast implants should be replaced if they deflate, leak, or create a specific problem. Fortunately, Mentor and Allergan Breast Implant Manufacturers offer a lifetime warranty on their implants, and pay a portion of your replacement cost, during the first 10 years after breast augmentation Los Angeles plastic surgery specialists tell us.

There are many national statistics about the incidence of breast implant deflation. In general, the rate of breast implant deflation is 1% per year. When saline implants deflate they just go flat, which alerts the person. To the contrary, when silicone implants deflate or leak there is usually no noticeable change. Therefore, in order to monitor silicone breast implants for deflation the FDA recommends yearly evaluation with MRI. For more information on breast augmentation, facial plastic surgery, and tummy tuck Los Angeles patients are encouraged to contact their local plastic surgery experts.

British Plastic Surgery Provider Reports Tummy Tuck Boom

June 19, 2009

Press Release Newswire recently reports a British plastic surgery provider saying enquiry figures for tummy tuck procedures have risen by over 70 per cent during the first quarter of 2009. This increase is great news for international and local Los Angeles tummy tuck surgery specialists alike who this year received 355 enquiries during the usually relatively slow period between January and March, compared with 207 enquiries over the first three months last year. Los Angeles Tummy Tuck

This latest data from the cosmetic surgery provider indicates that as the summer approaches many people are starting to become more bikini conscious, and are looking for the quickest solution to get them to their ideal figure and ready for the beach. Regarding abdominoplasty, which is often commonly referred to as a tummy tuck Los Angeles body contouring specialists tell us, is usually performed to help remove excess skin on the tummy which has been gained due to pregnancy or as a result of losing a large amount of weight. The procedure is designed to help smooth and add firmness to a person’s abdomen, giving the patient a slimmer and trimmer profile. These figures follow on the back of a survey on post-op weight loss surgery patients which found that the average reduction in waist size following surgery such as liposuction Los Angeles experts observe, was 13.2 inches. 80% of patients also expressed experiencing a significant improvement in their overall quality of life since their procedure and 77% stated that they would consider cosmetic surgery again in the future.

Based on these figures and trends from previous years, local plastic surgery providers are preparing for a record year, as patients shun the economic crisis and instead seek a confidence boost by preparing to look their best for the beach. How Does a Tummy Tuck Differ From Liposuction?

Beverly Hills Cosmetic Surgeon

One of the most common dilemmas for patients who are concerned with their abdomen is whether they would be better served with a Los Angeles tummy tuck or liposuction. While a Tummy Tuck or abdominoplasty is designed to remove loose abdominal skin and to tighten the belly, Liposuction is designed only to remove excess fat. A tummy tuck Los Angeles plastic surgeons explain, will not reduce the dress size in a woman of size 14 who has much fat around her abdomen. Likewise, a woman who has lost all her excess weight after pregnancy and is left with loose, hanging abdominal skin will not be able to tighten her abdomen or remove the stretch marks with Liposuction.

There are some people who are “in-between” these two groups – who have both excess fat and a hanging “spare tire.” These people will first need to undergo liposuction to rid them of the fat. They will then need a tummy tuck to remove the excess skin and to tighten their abdominal muscles. Can A Tummy Tuck and Liposuction Be Performed Simultaneously?Yes and No. It is not safe to perform liposuction in the areas of the abdomen where the skin is being stretched during an abdominoplasty. When getting a tummy tuck Beverly Hills cosmetic surgeons warn that this can cause unnecessary damage to the blood circulation of these areas, resulting in scarring or even skin loss.

As long as Liposuction is performed away from the main abdominal skin areas, it is then safe. Therefore, some people choose to have their hips and thighs liposuctioned in conjunction with an abdominoplasty. Breast lifts and augmentation are also frequently combined with the tummy tuck or abdominoplasty. The plastic surgeon may also simultaneously perform facial rejuvenation procedures, such as eyelid surgery, or procedures to remove fine wrinkles from the face. Because the total length of combined surgeries can affect the overall surgical risks, you should thoroughly discuss the safety of combined procedures with your Beverly Hills cosmetic surgeon.

What Kind of Breast Incision is Right for You?

Los Angeles Tummy Tuck

Regarding surgical procedures such as breast augmentation and liposuction Los Angeles experts note that how your surgeon administers his or her instruments on your body is a very important decision that you should make after a thorough discussion with your plastic surgeon. For example, with breast augmentation, the advantages of the Peri-Areolar incision include greater control over implant placement, resulting in better symmetry, stronger cleavage, and less noticeable scars. Furthermore, a concomitant breast augmentation Los Angeles plastic surgeons tell us, can be performed through this incision. However, for women with smaller areolar diameter, there is a greater risk of losing sensation in the nipple.

The Trans-Axillary incision is the method least favored by those who do not want to have a scar in the vicinity of their breast. This scar is not any less noticeable than infra-mammary and peri-areolar incision. One of its disadvantages is that it does not achieve the most symmetrical result or result in the strongest cleavage. Finally, a breast lift or Capsulectomy can not be performed through this incision. Many plastic surgeons favor the Inframammary Fold because they feel that it gives them the greatest control over placement of the breast implant and has less risk of affecting nipple sensation as that of the peri-areolar incision.

As with a Los Angeles tummy tuck, the inframammary scar is usually very thin after a breast augmentation procedure, and hidden under the breast fold, but can be more noticeable when a person is laying on their back. The Trans-umbilical incision is controversial among plastic surgeons. Those that are apt at performing it brag about its “scar-less” incision, while others feel that it carries an unacceptable potential risk of injuring vital organs during the insertion of the metal rod from the umbilicus towards the breasts. Finally, its use is only limited to the simplest form of breast augmentation, not allowing surgeons to manipulate the implant, or to perform a breast lift or Capsulectomy.

Every woman has different needs, and wishes concerning scarring, recovery time and the amount of pain that she feels she can tolerate. Therefore, thoroughly discuss your options with your plastic surgeon, and be certain that he or she is highly experienced in the methods that you choose.During your consultation, your plastic surgeon reviews your treatment options and choices of different incisions and routes of implant insertion, including pros and cons of each techniques, potential risks and complications, recovery course, pre and post operative instructions, and esthetic outcomes. You will also have an opportunity to “try on” different types of saline or silicone breast implants. Be sure to ask to see before-and-after pictures and high resolution images of Los Angeles breast augmentation results that are available from your plastic surgeon’s office.

Rihanna Plastic Surgery

May 13, 2009

Los Angeles tummy tuck

Singer Rihanna known for her original songwriting and powerful singing voice has been making recent headlines and raising speculations about the possibility of her having had plastic surgery.

In Los Angeles tummy tucks, nose jobs, and news about who’s had what done is as common as your morning cup of coffee (or tea for our non-coffee drinking readers), and whether or not Rihanna’s had rhinoplasty or a tummy tuck Los Angeles cosmetic surgery experts tell us, is hard to say. They say, however, that it’s unlikely because while she appears to have a wider nose and less projected breast in a previous photo, she then seems to have a well defined and thinner nose with very round breast in another photo.

In other pictures she goes back to having the same image than before suggesting that it could be the result of better use of make up and a push up bra, and not the result of cosmetic breast augmentation Los Angeles sources observe.

So with regards to enhancing her image with some plastic surgery procedures, has Rihanna gotten a nose job, tummy tuck, and/or liposuction Los Angeles readers are asking. The answer is, apparel and cosmetic makeup often can alter a person’s appearance in photos and other media, and it’s difficult to determine whether or not someone’s had had cosmetic enhancement by observing pictures and video of celebrities only. In Rihanna’s case, we can assume that if she has had any cosmetic work done that it has done nothing but truly enhance her natural beauty, as plastic surgery is designed to do.

Body Lift- Body Contouring after Massive Weight Loss in Los Angeles

March 28, 2009

Body LiftAlthough many people in Los Angeles know what a tummy tuck is, most people don’t know what a Body Lift is. Body Lift is a relatively new plastic surgery procedure in Beverly Hills which is used for body contouring of people who have lost massive weight after Bariatric Surgery- Gastric Bypass or Lap Band.

In Beverly Hills, Body Lift or Belt Lipectomy is similar to an abdominoplasty in that it also removes excess hanging skin folds of the abdomen. In addition, a Body Lift also removes excess hanging skin of the lower back and helps to lift the sagging buttocks. Beverly Hills Body Lift uses a circumferential torso incision to remove the hanging skin of the mid torso, including that of the abdomen, flanks, and the lower back, and thus lift up the lower body.

Body Lift is a complicated procedure that is best performed by a Board Certified Plastic Surgeons who specialize in post bariatric body contouring, or body contouring after massive weight loss. This Body Contouring procedure needs to be performed in a Surgical Facility which is equipped for the intra-operative and post-operative necessities of a major abdominal surgery.

Recovery after a Body Lift takes at least 3 weeks, and during at least the first ten days the patient would need much help. Most patients can return to their routine activities after the third week and start exercising in 4-6 weeks.

Dr. Younai is a Board Certified Beverly Hills Plastic Surgeon with formal training in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, as well as General Surgery at some of the most prestigious university residencies in the United States. African American Rhinoplasty Ethnic Nose Surgery

African Americans RhinoplastyEthnic Rhinoplasty among African Americans is not as common as nose surgery among Caucasians in Southern California. One reason may be that because of recent history of Black Rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills, African-Americans are fearful of getting a nose that resembles that of Michel Jackson! The first thing that I often hear from African Americans that seek Ethnic Rhinoplasty in Beverly Hills is that they want to look natural. Black men and women who seek rhinoplasty in Los Angeles want to get a nose which is more refined, while being in harmony with the rest of their face.

In order to achieve a natural looking nose during an Ethnic Rhinoplasty a plastic surgeon has to be aware of several fundamental differences between an African American and a Caucasian nose. A black person’s nose is typically wider at the nostrils, more flared, and has less nasal tip projection. Also African Americans typically do not have a prominent bridge. In order to make an African nose more proportional and balanced, augmentation of the nasal bridge is usually required. Nasal augmentation is achieved either with the use of a nasal implant or that of a cartilage graft. The size and width of the nostrils is also reduced to a more normal proportion, and the nasal tip is raised.

There are several limitations in performing a rhinoplasty on an African-American. Because the nasal skin of an African American person is relatively thicker than that of a Caucasian the same level of refinement and definition can seldom be achieved in an African-American nose surgery. Therefore, the nasal tip often remains rounder and less sharp, and the nostrils (ala) skin usually stays thicker.

Because of a propensity for developing keloid scarring the incisions in an African American nasal surgery have to be carefully and strategically placed, for example in the nostril creases. Likewise, an open Rhinoplasty should be avoided. Dr. Sean Younai is a Board Certified Plastic & Cosmetic Surgeon in Los Angeles and Beverly Hills who specializes in Nasal and Facial Plastic Surgery.

Thigh Lift Techniques in Los Angeles & Beverly Hills

January 28, 2009

What is a Thigh Lift?

After weight loss, men and women can get sagging and rippling of their thighs that can extend from the upper thighs to the knees. Often, Los Angeles and Beverly Hills women complain that they are unable to wear swimsuits and that the loose skin rubs together between their thighs. Also, the wrinkled loose skin around the knees keeps many women from being able to wear skirts.

While the sagging of the outer thighs and the buttocks can usually be addressed with a Los Angeles Body Lift procedure that of the inner thighs cannot. A Los Angeles Thigh Lift is a procedure which lifts and tightens the loose skin of thighs — mostly that of the inner thighs.

What is a Traditional Thigh Lift? Two different types of thigh lifts can be performed depending on the extent of skin laxity. If the skin laxity and rippling is mostly limited to the upper inner thighs, and skin excess does not extend to the entire circumference of the thigh, a Traditional Thigh Lift can be performed. In this procedure the surgical scar is located in the groin crease extending to the buttock crease. This scar is very well hidden.

What is an Extended Thigh Lift?

Often, people who were once extremely obese are now left with extensive laxity of the entire thigh all the way to the knees. In these cases, an Extended Thigh Lift is performed. In addition to the scar of the groin crease, there is also a long vertical scar that extends along the inner thigh height. This vertical scar enables your Los Angeles plastic surgeon to remove the lax excessive skin of the entire thigh.

Can Thigh Lifts be Combined with Liposuction?

Yes. Both Traditional Thigh Lift and Extended Thigh Lift can often be combined with limited Los Angeles or Beverly Hills liposuction in order to better contour the legs and to reduce the size of the “saddle bags”.

Weight loss by large-volume Liposuction in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles

Large volume liposuction

Liposuction has become a new method of weight loss for men and women in Beverly Hills and Los Angeles who are overweight or obese. While bariatric surgery has revolutionized surgical weight management throughout California and the US; people are realizing its risks, complications, and long term side-effects on body shape. Heavy and large people who reach a frustrating plateau after diet and exercise, find large-volume-liposuction an alternative to gastric bypass surgery.

They have seen their overweight friends who have had weight loss surgery not only lose excess body fat, but also to have uncontrollably lost body mass in the areas that they wanted to keep! For example, after lap band surgery, women often find their breasts shrink away and sag. Rapid and massive total body weight loss results in sagging skin that draped off arms, abdomen, buttocks, and thighs. Obese men and women of Los Angeles and Beverly Hills who were once happy to have lost much weight with gastric bypass are now facing another dilemma- how not to look disgusting when they take off their clothes?

Large Volume Liposuction can drastically reduce dress size by removing unwanted fat from selected body areas, instead of the whole body as experienced with bariatric surgery. Meanwhile, this method of liposuction keeps full other body areas such as the buttocks, breasts, and the face. Among overweight people in Los Angeles, there are many that have changed their lifestyle and eating habits in a way not to gain any further weight. Despite their sacrifice they become frustrated with their inability to lose weight in right areas of their body. For example, they wished that they could reduce their thigh size to the portion of their upper body. Some want to only lose weight in their gut without getting thinner legs. These people find large volume liposuction as an effective alternative to Bariatric surgery.

Large volume liposuction was born out of the desire of plus size women to look curvy and sexy, without having to become too thin. Large volume liposuction accomplishes more than weight loss; it provides heavyset men and women with the shape and figure that they always wanted. This is accomplished safely when liposuction is performed by a board certified plastic surgeon who has the depth of knowledge, experience, and support structure to conduct large volume liposuction.

Doctor Sean Younai, MD, FACS, is a Board Certified Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon who has been performing body contouring and large volume liposuction for more than a decade. As a large-volume liposuction specialist he is routinely sought by patients from all over the United States and abroad. Locally, he serves men and women from the Northern as well as the Southern California regions. Some of these cities are Beverly Hills, Los Angeles, Santa Monica, Hollywood, Burbank, Sherman Oaks, Encino, Calabasas, Woodland Hills, Thousand Oaks, Westlake Village, Pasadena, Glendale, Valencia, Palmdale, Fresno, Bakersfield, and Oxnard.

During your consultation at the California Center for Plastic Surgery, Dr. Younai reviews your treatment options for body contouring and Liposuction, including pros and cons, potential risks and complications, recovery course, pre and post operative instructions, and esthetic outcomes. In our photo gallery, there are also available many before-and-after pictures and high resolution images of plus size people who have had large-volume Liposuction.

Tummy Tuck Revision in Beverly Hills & Los Angeles

December 19, 2008

Los Angeles tummy tuck

Why people might not be happy with their tummy tuck in Beverly Hills?

A person might be disappointed with the results of their Beverly Hills tummy tuck or abdominoplasty due to asymmetry, highly visible surgical scar or their location, unacceptable visible deformities, bunching and rippling. The skin near or at the incisions may heal poorly, wounds may disrupt, and sensation can be altered in the areas of surgery or adjacent to it.

Tummy Tuck Complications or Unsatisfactory Results in Beverly Hills

Tummy tuck scars can sometimes be revised or at least relocated to a less visible location. It is not uncommon to find patients who have had their tummy tuck incision placed too high, just under their belly button. These women are often unable to hide these scars under a bikini. This scar can often be lowered to where it can be hidden under a bikini.

Another common complaint is the appearance and the size of belly buttons or the umbilicus after an abdominoplasty Beverly Hills. The belly button scar and shape can be optimized with minor revision tummy tuck surgery. Unwanted bulging and protrusion of the abdomen after a tummy tuck can be caused by several things. First, it is not common for some women to gain weight after Los Angeles tummy tuck surgery which can cause accumulation of fat in certain areas of the abdomen and flanks. Second, tightening of the abdominal wall muscles can become undone with either heavy lifting, or weight gain.

There are even times when the Beverly Hills plastic surgeon might not have performed a complete tightening of the abdominal Rectus Muscles along its entire length. This can also be revised similar to repair of a ventral hernia or incisional hernia. Smoking or use of Nicotine products can be detrimental to the results of a tummy tuck. Nicotine causes severe chocking of the small and delicate blood vessels that supply blood to the umbilicus and the other areas of the abdominal skin.

Therefore, smoking can cause death of the umbilicus or the abdominal wall skin and opening or dehiscence of the incision line. If this happens, a Board Certified Los Angeles Plastic Surgeon can possibly revise your abdominoplasty and repair or reconstruct these wounds. Having said this, it may not be possible to fully correct, revise, or improve upon the result of your tummy tuck. Following the instructions of your Board Certified Plastic Surgeon before and after surgery can minimize your chance of developing complications or unsatisfactory results.
